A roundtable breakfast took place on December 10, 2009 in the building of Consulate General of Ukraine in New York.
In 2005, after Orange Revolution, Ukraine was hailed as one of the most promising places for doing business. Investors purred billions of dollars into the country and sectors such as construction, manufacturing, banking, finance and agriculture experienced unprecedented growth. When the capital markets dried up in the second half of 2008, Ukraine became one of the countries worst affected by the world financial crises requiring IMF intervention. Many investors became worried about their investments and some started pulling out in a hurry fearing economic collapse.
How did the crises affect foreign companies doing business in Ukraine? What are the problems facing them? What lessons can be drawn from the recent events in Ukraine? What are the opportunities for foreign investors in Ukraine?
The panelists were trying to answer these and other questions. This roundtable was designated for people with serious interest in Ukraine seeking information, ideas and opportunities in this very promising country.
This event is sponsored by AstapovLawyers International Law Group and Hoshovsky Law Firm, New York.
